Modern Argentine
Tango in Helsinki

Neotango is a modern interpretation of Argentine tango that embraces creativity while preserving the connection, improvisation and musicality that make tango unique.

Instead of dancing exclusively to traditional tango orchestras, Neotango explores contemporary music including electronic tango, ambient, trip-hop, world music and carefully selected modern tracks that inspire new ways of moving together.

It is not about replacing traditional tango—it is about expanding its possibilities. Dancers are encouraged to experiment, express themselves freely and discover new musical experiences while keeping the embrace and communication at the heart of every dance.

Aurora Neotango Festival is Finland's first international Neotango festival and one of Tango Club Helsinki's most ambitious projects. Created to bring together dancers, teachers and DJs from across Europe, Aurora has quickly become a unique meeting place for everyone who loves contemporary Argentine tango.

Whether you're completely new to Neotango or already an experienced Argentine tango dancer, Aurora offers the perfect opportunity to grow. Beginners can discover Neotango from the very first step with internationally recognised teachers, while intermediate and advanced dancers explore more complex musicality, technique and creative improvisation through specialised workshops.

Beyond the workshops, Aurora is an unforgettable social experience. Dance until late at inspiring Neolongas with internationally acclaimed DJs from different parts of Europe, discover new music and share the dance floor with a welcoming international community.

Following the success of its inaugural edition, Aurora returns for its second year, continuing to establish Finland as an important destination for Neotango in Northern Europe.

Together with Baltic Neotango Festival in Tallinn, Estonia, Tango Club Helsinki now organises two international Neotango festivals, creating unique opportunities for dancers to learn from world-class artists, experience exceptional music and become part of an international community that extends far beyond weekly classes.

Born in Buenos Aires, Alejandro Herlan has spent more than a decade teaching, performing and DJing Argentine Tango and Neotango throughout Europe. His approach combines the authenticity of traditional tango with the creativity and musical diversity of modern tango.

Alejandro has taught workshops and festivals in Finland, Estonia, Sweden, Norway, Poland, France and many other countries, sharing his passion for connection, musicality and improvisation with dancers of all levels.

As the founder and organiser of Aurora Neotango Festival, Baltic Neotango Festival and numerous international events, he continues to help grow the Neotango community in Northern Europe while bringing internationally recognised artists to Helsinki.

Whether you're taking your very first Neotango class or looking to deepen your dancing, you'll learn in a welcoming environment where creativity, technique and the joy of social dancing come together.
