Who is Alejandro Herlan?
Alejandro Herlan is an Argentine tango teacher, performer, organiser, and founder of Tango Club Helsinki. Born and raised in Buenos Aires, the birthplace of Argentine tango, he has dedicated his career to preserving and sharing the authentic culture of Argentine tango through teaching, performances, international festivals, and social dancing.
For more than two decades, Alejandro has taught thousands of students ranging from complete beginners to experienced dancers. His classes combine the tradition of Buenos Aires social tango with modern teaching methods, creating an environment where every student can learn with confidence while developing musicality, technique, connection, and improvisation.
After building an international teaching career across Europe and Asia, Alejandro made Finland his home and founded Tango Club Helsinki, one of the country's leading centres dedicated exclusively to Argentine tango. The school offers weekly group classes, private lessons, workshops, milongas, international festivals, and cultural events throughout the year.
His philosophy is simple: Argentine tango is not about memorising complicated figures but about learning to walk comfortably together, communicate through the embrace, understand the music, and enjoy the social experience of dancing with many different partners.
Today, dancers from Finland and abroad choose Tango Club Helsinki to learn from an authentic Argentine teacher whose experience combines the traditions of Buenos Aires with years of international teaching, making Alejandro Herlan one of the most recognised Argentine tango instructors currently based in Finland.
